Course Name: Science Academies for Grades 5-8

Course description: 

In this self-paced course, participants examine changes to the science TEKS in the middle grades and explore models of vertical alignment to build knowledge of science concepts and processes. Through model science lessons, participants consider how the English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), Response to Intervention (RtI), and College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) frameworks support student success on statewide assessments and promote post-secondary readiness. This course is managed by Region 4 (101-950): Texas Education Service Center.

This course has no prerequisites.

Intended Audience: 

Texas science teachers and instructional supervisors for grades 5-8 and applicable bilingual, ESL, and special education teachers
